“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

— John 10:10b

The J.A.M. Session Story

Trauma

Growing up in my family of origin, I always felt like there was something wrong with me. I felt like I somehow did not belong. It was a painful existence that is best defined by the name of a condition I did not know about back then but have become very familiar with now: complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD).

  • The good news is, I became a Christian in my early 20s after leaving home to attend college.
  • The sad news is, after more than thirty years into my faith journey, I still felt like there was something wrong with me—that I was still missing something.

In my attempt to find the answer to what that “something” might be, I explored a variety of Christian counseling interventions, twelve-steps group meetings, will-power practices, medicate-to-regulate remedies, and inner-healing protocols.

  • All of which provided me with varying degrees of “pain relief”
  • But not the full demonstration of Divine healing and self-propagating recovery for which my wounded heart and weary soul were longing.

Transformation

Not willing to accept the idea that the only way for me to find freedom from addiction and malfunction was to die and go to heaven, I cried out to God in a final prayer of desperation for help.

In His sovereign grace, He answered my prayer by leading me to a relational resource center (Life Model Works) and a book called Joy Starts Here, where I discovered the name for what it was I had been missing: joy!

Today, after experiencing more than a decade of psychological clarity, soul prosperity, and relational maturity as a result of the Lord successfully cultivating this important Fruit of the Holy Spirit in my life, I am becoming the person I would have been without the trauma. I am able to live life more abundantly! This is the inspiration that led to the development of J.A.M. Session™.

Training

J.A.M. Session (joy, appreciation, and maturity) is a character transformation coaching series that helps busy leaders, stressed achievers and midlife career changers increase their joy capacity so they can live life more abundantly in the present and the future.

The series was developed during a five year period in my life transformation journey when I had the increased capacity to begin sharing what I was learning about returning to joy with my wife and children at home, with team members at work, with neighbors and friends in my circle of influence, and as a Joy Starts Here group facilitator at church.

In that season, I became expert at sampling content from Life Model Works authors, thought leaders, therapy practitioners, and ministry partners, and then synthesizing, arranging and producing training materials in the form of emoji pictograms that made it easy for group participants to learn, understand, and practice return to joy skills in their everyday relationship with God and others.

Tracks

The series is comprised of eight Christ-centered, biblically based, and life model-informed coaching tracks that will help you discover how to:

  • Quiet your mind of busyness and distractions so that you can synchronize with the mind of God and experience the rest and joy of His interactive presence as a daily lifestyle.
  • Train your brain to return to “joy” from hijacked emotions and nonsecure attachment pain so that you can increase your capacity to sustain positive character change.
  • Remove “low joy” barriers to peak performance so that you can rise above “upper limit” problems and relational setbacks.
  • Identify the unique characteristics of your heart during each maturity phase and stage of life so that you can learn how to endure hardships well.
  • And much more!
