“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
— John 10:10b

The J.A.M. Session™ Story
Trauma
Growing up in my family of origin, I always felt like there was something wrong with me. I felt like I somehow did not belong. It was a painful existence that is best defined by the name of a condition I did not know about back then but have become very familiar with today: complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD).
- The good news is, I became a Christian in my early 20s after leaving home to attend college.
- The sad news is, after more than thirty years into my faith journey, I still felt like there was something wrong with me—that I was still missing something.
In my attempt to find the answer to what that “something” might be, I explored a variety of will-power practices, twelve-steps group meetings, counseling and therapy interventions, and inner-healing protocols.
- All of which provided me with varying degrees of “pain relief”
- But not the full demonstration of Divine healing and self-propagating recovery my wounded heart and weary soul were longing to experience.
Transformation
Not willing to accept the idea that the only way for me to find freedom from addiction and malfunction was to die and go to heaven, I cried out to God in a final prayer of desperation for help.
In His sovereign grace, He answered my prayer by leading me to a relational resource center called Life Model Works and a book called Joy Starts Here, where I discovered the name for what it was I had been missing: joy!
Today, after experiencing more than a decade of mental clarity, soul prosperity, and relational resiliency as a result of the Lord cultivating this important Fruit of the Holy Spirit in my life, I am becoming the person I would have been without the trauma. I am able to live life more abundantly! This is the inspiration that led to the development of J.A.M. Session™.
Training

J.A.M. Session™ (joy, appreciation, and maturity) is a character transformation training and coaching series that helps busy leaders, stressed achievers and midlife career changers increase their joy capacity so they can live life more abundantly in the present and the future.
The series was developed during a five year season in my personal transformation journey, during which I began practicing and sharing the Nineteen Relational Maturity Skills I was learning with my family at home, colleagues at work, neighbors and friends in my community, and as a Joy Starts Here group facilitator at church.
In that season, I became expert at sampling content from Life Model Works authors, thought leaders, therapy practitioners and ministry partners, and then synthesizing, arranging, and producing training materials in the form of emojimaps that made it easy for group participants to understand and practice return to joy skills in their everyday relationship with God and others.
Tracks

The series is comprised of eight biblically based and life model-informed coaching tracks that will help you discover how to:
- Quiet your mind of busyness and distractions so that you can hear from the Lord and experience the rest and joy of His interactive presence in your daily life.
- Train your brain to “return to joy” from nonsecure attachments and hijacked emotions so that you can increase your capacity to sustain positive character formation.
- Remove “low joy barriers” to peak performance so that you can conquer relational setbacks and “upper limit” problems from the past.
- Identify the unique characteristics of your heart so you can maintain a joyful, coherent, and mature identity that endures hardships well.
- And much more!
